Craige Fleischer, Samsung Electronics SA Director of Mobile Communications

Samsung Electronics South Africa sponsored the Samsung Excellence Award, at The Independent Institute of Education’s (The IIE) Vega annual graduation ceremonies, held recently.

Vega is an educational brand of The IIE, South Africa’s leading registered provider of higher education. The award category recognised students from each campus in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban, who have consistently achieved academic excellence throughout their studies, all of whom received a Samsung Note Pro 12.2.

Recipients of the Samsung Excellence Award come from different walks of life, but have one thing in common, a passion to excel and rise above obstacles. They are heroes of the lecture room, leaders of their own destiny and pillars of support to educators who have been tasked with the responsibility of teaching them.

Craige Fleischer, Director of Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics SA, “We are excited to be a part of this incredible milestone in these young people’s lives. Samsung’s innovation and technology is designed to improve lives, and we are confident that with the Note Pro 12.2” we’ll be able to add value to these high-performing graduates.”

“The beneficiaries of this award are among the finest examples of how the IIE and Vega are fulfilling its mission by producing highly employable newly-minted graduates. We are excited to see what the future holds for these students who have made academic excellence a priority in the pursuit of their education,” said Gordon Cook, Vega Co-Founder.

At Vega the emphasis is placed upon a synthesis of the theoretical and practical, which closely mirrors the reality of the industry that students will be entering. The idea is that learners hit the ground running and dive directly into their career without having to make any radical readjustments as the abstractions of theory make way for the hard facts of reality.

“With the Note Pro 12.2 tablet, we are able to offer the deserving recipients a tool that will support and enhance their lives as they enter the job market. The device’s perfect combination of style, portability, performance and large screen size, offers the ability to multi-task, combining different applications at the same time on one screen. These features will enable them to simultaneously view emails, create a presentation or browse the web, thus increasing efficiency,” concludes Fleischer.

The prize will ensure that the graduates are able to remain productive anywhere, at any time, by using software suites such as Hancom Office, which enable them to compose and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations easily and conveniently. Furthermore, they can read PDF material based on Android software, and have more compatibility with MS Office, therefore preparing them for their work lives.

Technology advancements over the years have enriched people’s lives and encouraged their development, making them independent.

This empowerment is what will further drive SA forward and place it at the forefront of the countries that are best placed to benefit from new technology.
