Tara Turkington, Flow Communications CEO

Flow Communications is proud to have been appointed the digital marketing agency for the Gauteng Tourism Authority.

The account encompasses redeveloping and building Gauteng Tourism’s digital presence, including online, social media and digital campaigns.

This will be the second time that Flow Communications has held the GTA account – the agency built the original website five years ago, among other digital marketing work.

“The Gauteng Tourism Authority is a prime and special account to us, and we are delighted to have triumphed in what was a highly competitive and hard-won pitch process,” says Tara Turkington, Flow Communications CEO.

“There are several reasons why we are excited to be working with Gauteng Tourism once more, not least the great work that it is doing to attract visitors to the hidden gems scattered all over the province.

“As a company that was born in Gauteng, the powerhouse of South Africa, Flow feels a strong affinity with Gauteng Tourism and what it is doing to promote the province. We very much look forward to playing an important part in showcasing Gauteng and its attractions to the entire world.”

The successful tender entrenches Flow Communications as a leading digital communications provider to clients throughout the tourism value chain, ranging from products and attractions to destination marketing organisations, service providers and industry bodies.

The company boasts such clients as South African Tourism, South African Airways, Maropeng, Fair Trade Tourism, the Table Mountain Cableway, the Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway, the Two Oceans Aquarium, uShaka Sea World, the Northern Cape Tourism Authority, Kruger Lowveld Tourism, Destinate, Flight Centre, the Grand Daddy Hotel, Madikwe Game Reserve, Reunion Tourism and Watamu Tourism (in Kenya), among others.

“Flow Communications has over the years built up an impressive client base in the tourism space, starting with Maropeng – which, 10 years later, remains an important and much-loved client. We look forward to pouring all of the experience we have gained in that time, and our undimmed passion for what we do, into Gauteng Tourism’s digital work,” says Turkington.

Gauteng Tourism’s senior manager for destination and corporate communications, Barba Gaoganediwe, comments: “We are excited to be having Flow as our full agency digital partner, and looking forward to their expert services and advice. We place a huge amount of energy and resources into our digital assets, and having a professional and trusted partner like Flow Communications enables us to compete in, and ultimately conquer, this important space in the destination promotion mix.”
